  1. Tapcon anchors Vs Wedge Anchors 2 - Eng-Tips

Jan 8, 2012 · Hi, Is there a reason for the wedge anchor to be more commonly used than the "Tapcon" for example: LDT (large diameter tapcon) by RED HEAD with 5/8" diameter and 3.5" embedment has an ultimate cap. of 7972 Lbs on tension and 10224 Lbs on Shear. Vs Trubolt (Wedge Anchor) by RED HHEAD...

  2. Can concrete screws or the holes be reused?

Feb 17, 2020 · So we drilled into concrete to bolt down steel bases with several Titen 3/8" x 3" Titen heavy duty Screw Anchor. I'll be replacing the base, so I will need to remove the screw, remove the base, and then re-bolt the new base to the concrete. I will probably use new screws, but can I reuse the hole? I would be using the same exact screw.

Apr 14, 2023 · I used anchors like this for an earthquake retrofit. The anchors are a bit expensive but the epoxy, the gun to squirt it into the holes and the mixing tips for the gun were very steep. You need those even if you only do one or two holes. I would guess one set was $150-200 five or ten years ago. I was doing a bunch so could amortize it. –

  5. How many Tapcons should be used to anchor a baseplate to a …

Feb 4, 2015 · I have been framing basement walls for years. I use 3 tapcon anchors per 8 ft run. Pre drill the treated base plate for the anchors, counter sink them a 1/4 inch, then lay a heavy bead of construction adhesive under the plate. Use a good concrete bit to drill the anchor holes. They should be at least an inch deep.

  6. Anchors for concrete - what to use on a concrete ceiling?

Nov 5, 2020 · There should be steel rebar in the ceiling , I would verify the presence and amount of rebar before putting holes in the concrete. Each of those anchors works by putting compressive force on the concrete in the concrete ; this compressive ( expansion ) adds to the tensile stress. I would check with local contractors and find out what they do.

  7. screws - Why can't I drive this Tapcon into concrete? - Home ...

Dec 10, 2016 · I'm trying to drive a 2 1/2" long 3/16" diameter Tapcon into a 50 year-old concrete slab/subfloor to attach a new toilet flange. The instructions on the case of Tapcons said to drill a hole in the concrete with a 5/32" bit. Did that with a Bosch Bulldog SDS; that part was easy.

  8. concrete - Tapcon length to anchor canopy - Home Improvement …

Oct 21, 2021 · For the tapcon question - If the concrete is in good condition and you use at least two fasteners per post, the 1-3/4" should be sufficient. If you want fewer holes, I'd use a longer fastener. I agree with your point that the legs and joints will fail before the true strength of the concrete anchors is tested.

  9. What length of Tapcon/ramset nail for base plate?

Feb 18, 2016 · From the best I've found, the recomendation is to go at least 1" into the concrete, and for tapcons, people tend to recomend the 1/4 vs 3/16". Looking around it seems like my options are either 1/4" x 2-3/4" Tapcons, or 2.5"/3" Ramset nails.

  10. Do I need an impact driver for driving concrete screws?

Sep 12, 2021 · Wedge anchors are fasteners designed for use in masonry/concrete base material that provides holding power through expansion. The anchor is inserted in a predrilled hole compress and then exerts force to create the holding power. A regular hammer is sufficient to force the anchor into the concrete slab. From HD
