Laterite was founded in Rwanda in 2010 with a mission to provide high-quality data collection and research services to accelerate social impact. A key area for impact is in education. Our team has worked on various projects in education research, many of them involving primary data collection in Rwandan schools.

A recent study conducted by Laterite in partnership with the International Potato Center (CIP) sheds light on just how impactful this resilient, fast-growing, and disease-resistant crop has been for farmers’ livelihoods, incomes, and food security.

Laterite Ethiopia was founded in 2016 and Addis Ababa is one of our fastest growing offices. Our project portfolio in Ethiopia ranges from data collection, full-cycle research assessments, to long-term monitoring and evaluation partnerships. The Ethiopia team works across all Laterite’s key sectors, with a focus on agriculture and livelihoods.

Laterite and the REAL Centre at the University of Cambridge were learning partners for the Mastercard Foundation’s Leaders in Teaching, an initiative to improve teaching and learning quality in Rwandan secondary education with a focus on STEM.
