Like everyone else said, the sandstone quarry is by far the best method. It's the most sand buckets per hour, and you get mining xp at the same time. The gp per bucket is very minimal, and easily worth the time saved. As a more afk alternative however, you can collect sand buckets in Prifddinas if you've completed Song of the Elves.

Feb 20, 2023 · It currently says that the great sand shark can be spawned right after killing plantera, by killing 10 regular sand sharks. however, I've been trying for quite a bit, and it hasn't spawned at all. No matter how many times I go back and kill plantera, the shark won't spawn during sandstorms when I kill 10 sand sharks.
