After installation, you can enable or disable GitHub Copilot, and you can configure advanced settings within your IDE or on GitHub. This article describes how to configure GitHub Copilot in the IntelliJ IDE, but the user interfaces of other JetBrains IDEs may differ.

Configure Copilot in your editor - You can enable or disable GitHub Copilot from within your editor, and create your own preferred keyboard shortcuts for Copilot. See Configuring GitHub Copilot in your environment.

You may want to enable Copilot for those members before enabling Copilot for your whole organization. This can help you discover blockers, demonstrate early success, and set your organization up for a successful Copilot rollout.

Enable Copilot for some or all organizations in your enterprise. See Enabling Copilot for organizations in your enterprise . Each organization owner can then grant Copilot access to some or all of the members of their organization.

Configure Copilot in your editor - You can enable or disable GitHub Copilot from within your editor, and create your own preferred keyboard shortcuts for Copilot. See Configuring GitHub Copilot in your environment.

Enable GitHub Copilot and click Done. After granting the required permissions, restart Xcode. You will see a new item in the "Editor" menu called "GitHub Copilot". Signing in to GitHub Copilot. Before you can use the GitHub Copilot extension for Xcode, you need to authorize the extension to access your GitHub account.

If you have a Copilot Free or Copilot Pro subscription, you can enable Claude Sonnet in two ways: The first time you choose to use Claude Sonnet models with Copilot Chat in Visual Studio Code, or in the immersive view of Copilot Chat, you will be prompted to allow access to the model.

For installation instructions for GitHub CLI, see the GitHub CLI repository. If you have access to GitHub Copilot via your organization or enterprise, you cannot use Copilot in the CLI if your organization owner or enterprise administrator has disabled Copilot in the CLI.

You can use Copilot with the GitHub CLI to get suggestions and explanations for the command line.
