Set-Builder Notation - Math is Fun
Type of Number. It is also normal to show what type of number x is, like this:. The means "a member of" (or simply "in"); The is the special symbol for Real Numbers.; So it says: "the set of all x's that are a member of the Real Numbers, such that x is greater than or equal to 3" In other words "all Real Numbers from 3 upwards". There are other ways we could have shown that:

Set-builder notation is defined as a representation or a notation that can be used to describe a set that is defined by a logical formula that simplifies to be true for every element of the set. It includes one or more than one variables. It also defines a rule about the elements which belong to the set. There are two methods that can be used to represent a set: Roster form and Set builder form.

Practice the worksheet on sets in Set-builder Form to write a set using the Rule or Set-builder method. We know, to express the set in Set-builder Form actual elements of the set are not listed but a rule or a statement or a formula in the briefest possible way. 1. Write each given set in the Set-Builder Form: (i) {2, 4, 6, 8, 10}
