  2. What is the best smart door lock in your opinion? - Reddit

I'm seeing many smart door locks these days. I even saw one from Eufy that includes a camera. However, I don't think that one has a physical key lock. I'm looking for one with a long battery life that has the ability to lock and unlock via all of the following features: Keypad iPhone/Apple Watch/smartphone Physical key

  3. Smart lock that doesn't use batteries? : r/smarthome - Reddit

Aug 2, 2023 · EDIT SOLVED I'm looking for a smart lock, with WiFi features. My front door where the lock is, doesn't get much heat during the winter so when I've tried battery operated ones, they just die within a few weeks during the winter months. I've looked a little bit into electric strike plates but they're pretty expensive and not an easy install.

  4. Smart locks for front and back door with same physical key?

May 17, 2017 · Most smart locks (Kwikset, Schlage, Yale) have the same underlying lock technologies for their deadbolts. They use the same style key as their non-smart locks. The August lock is just a mechanized cover for an existing Deadbolt, so it will use the same key as the existing lock. I have the Kwikset Smartcode 916, which has "Smart Key" capabilities.

  5. Dumb question, but do I need a knob lock if I have a deadbolt?

No, kicking a door in with a deadbolt + knob lock is almost as easy as kicking it in with deadbolt only. The door frame is going to split/fail with minimal force. (but definitely more force than is required to pass the knob lock only.) Next DIY to secure the door is to add a long piece of angle iron to the frame with some long screws.

  6. Recommendations on a keyless front door lock? : …

I have the Yale Real Living z-wave, too. I just replaced the lock cylinder with one for an AssaAbloy Protec2 key (keyed to match the deadbolt on my front door. The zwave lock is on the door from the garage into the house.)

  7. What is the best smart lock in 2022? : r/homedefense - Reddit

Oct 1, 2022 · I want a smart lock that I can give a pin to like if I have a large package it can be delivered to the front area of the house. There's a door that locks to the actual house. Beyond that I'd like to know if the door is locked through my phone. I do have a nest home hub max and several Google home hubs. I have the nest thermostat and several ...

  8. What smart locks do your recommend? : r/homeassistant - Reddit

Apr 24, 2023 · Which is the only thing I ask a lock to do. Unlocking itself against my wishes is even worse. So I spent about $800 for two locks, one of which functions at a bare minimum, and one of which will not allow the door to stay locked. That one just has the batteries removed and the front door is basically unusable.

  9. Hardwired smart door lock : r/homeautomation - Reddit

Jan 27, 2022 · I'm looking to replace our front door lock with a smart lock as part of getting our house rewired. Given that we will have an electrician on site for several weeks, it seems silly to install a battery operated lock if we can get it hardwired. Things to note: A reasonably open platform is essential (IFTTT, Google Home).

  10. How to get keyless entry for this French door? : …

Jan 17, 2023 · But the two actions, rotate handle up to lock pins and twist knob to engage deadbolt are very different from the normal American style deadbolt. Most of the smart products for this focus on the lock cylinder, which is great for easy unlocking on your way in, but can’t lock the door unless the handle-lift has completed.
