Include curb and gutter in the Plans in accordance with the requirements of the Basis of Estimates Manual (BOE) and FDM. Detail and label the curb and gutter in Plans Views, Typical Sections where applicable, and other sheets as required. See FDM 913 and 915.
Construct sidewalk access ramps in accordance with FDOT Design Standards Index No. 304. Conform construction of sidewalk ramps within street intersections with existing curb and gutter to the current FDOT Roadway and Traffic Design Standards.
520-10 Surface Requirements. Test the gutter section of curb and gutter with a 10 foot straightedge laid parallel to the centerline of the roadway and while the concrete is still plastic. Perform straightedging along the edge of the gutter adjacent to the pavement or along other lines on the gutter cross-section, as directed by the Engineer.
Use the curb ramp options as follows: • Curb Ramps CR-A, CR-B & CR-C are for use where ramp and landing depths are not restricted. • Curb Ramps CR-D, CR-E, CR-F, CR-G and CR-H are for linear pedestrian traffic. • Curb Ramps CR-K and CR-L are for use where ramp and landing depths are restricted.

For highways with design speeds less than 50 MPH, this minimum distance may be reduced to 50 feet for rural highways or 40 feet for urban (curb and gutter) highways.

This document provides a diagram and specifications for future curb and gutter construction. It shows dimensions for various sections of curb including heights, widths, radii and placement of joints. Notes indicate an expansion joint every 20 feet and that curb ends should be at least 6 inches from the edge of pavement.
