To stain concrete cheaply, you can:
    • Use the least expensive oil base stain or paint you can find.
    • Mix the paint/stain with paint thinner in a 50-50 solution. That is one gallon of paint to one gallon of paint thinner.
Alternatively, you can use acid stain to stain concrete. The steps are:
    1. Dampen the area with water but do not let it puddle.
    2. Spray in an overlapping manner, maintaining a wet edge.
    3. Allow acid stain to react with the concrete floor for at least 6 hours.
    4. Clean residue and pour water on the floor to approximate the final color.
    5. Clean residue from floor with degreaser and neutralizer solution using an acid brush.
