The Quadricycle was Henry Ford's first attempt to build a gasoline-powered automobile. It utilized commonly available materials: angle iron for the frame, a leather belt and chain drive for the transmission, and a buggy seat. Ford had to devise his own ignition system. He sold his Quadricycle for $200, then used the money to build his second car.

In the early morning of June 4, 1896, Henry Ford made his first trial run in a small, four-wheeled vehicle he called a "Quadricycle," subsequently described by historian Allan Nevins as "Strikingly small and light - the lightest vehicle of its type yet produced."

Henry Ford unveils the Quadricycle, the first automobile he ever designed or drove, on June 4, 1896, at approximately 4 a.m. in the coal shed behind his home on Bagley Avenue in Detroit.
