Ash Ketchum has many mysteries that surround him, but so does his start Pokemon Pikachu. We don't know why Pikachu's level always resets or why he'll never evolve. However, there have actually been 5 times in the Pokemon Anime where Ash's Pikachu has actually nearly evolved into a Raichu.
