Scott Steiner suffered a collapse backstage right before the global lockdown in March 2020 while with Impact Wrestling. He stopped breathing, requiring a defibrillator shock.

Steiner was then put in a medically induced coma, shifted to the ICU, and put on a ventilator as the doctors cut through his ribs and lungs to sew his torn up trachea. Steiner said he woke up two days later and while he was out of danger, there was still quite a bit of swelling around his throat.

His sources claim Steiner, 57, "stopped breathing at one point," leading to medical workers to perform cardioversion on him, meaning they sent electric shocks to his heart.
