“Amend” isn’t the five-letter solution to today’s Wordle, but it is what the New York Times did to the popular word puzzle after the solution originally selected for Monday's game was deemed too closely related to "a major recent news event."

Wordle has broken for at least some players. The viral word-based puzzle game appears not to be loading for some in the UK and elsewhere. Players instead saw a message indicating that there had been some sort of error. Many players were still able to get online, and were sharing their results on social media.

"Shortly after starting to redirect traffic to our Wordle site at 2:30 p.m. ET, we identified an issue that affected how a player's Current Streak was calculated," a New York Times spokesperson told me via email. "We discovered the root of the issue and deployed a solution around 7 p.m. ET.
