The West Highland Way stretches 96 miles (154 Km) from Milngavie to Fort William, taking in a huge variety of scenery along the way, from countryside parks to loch-shores and open moorlands to steep mountains.

The first section of the West Highland Way from Milngavie to Drymen, starts off in the centre of Drymen, rather uninspiringly outside Costas! This first leg is more lowland than highland, but is a steady start to the trail. Many will not be sufficiently prepared, and this section allows you to ease into the West Highland Way gently.

Join or leave the path at Mugdock Park, Carbeth, Dumgoyne or Killearn Mill. Recently the West Highland Way celebrated its 40th anniversary. Now firmly established as one of Scotland’s most famous and loved walking routes, the route started initially without much fanfare at Milngavie.

Today, around 30,000 people from all over the world walk West Highland Way each year which encouraged the development of a decent service infrastructure along the way. Why Walk the WHW?
