  1. Virgil van Dijk (born 8 July 1991) is a Dutch professional footballer. He plays as a Center-Back for Premier League club Liverpool and the Netherlands national team. He was born in Breda, North Brabant . Van Dijk began his career with Dutch team Groningen. He played there between 2011 and 2013.

    Van Dijk was 26 when he joined Liverpool in January 2018, having had spells at Celtic and Southampton following his departure from boyhood club Groningen in the Netherlands.

    He made his professional debut for FC Groningen in 2011 and quickly established himself as a key player in the team. Van Dijk played for two seasons at Groningen, making 66 appearances and scoring 7 goals. In 2013, van Dijk signed for Scottish club Celtic, where he played for two and a half seasons.
