The bottom line – when someone else makes you think of something – that is a reminder, when you yourself think of it – that is remembering.

If you sat them down on three different occasions, it would be three reminders but you are reminding them, once, about three things. I would most naturally say, "Children, I have three things to remind you about". Or, "I want to remind you of three things".
