    • Make a wicking chamber by cutting a hole in the lid or bottom and inserting a plastic bottle filled with potting soil.
    • Create a false bottom inside the planter by placing the lid or bottom upside down and leaving some space for the water reservoir.
    • Prepare a watering pipe by drilling a hole in the side of the container and inserting a PVC pipe or a plastic straw.
    • Drill an overflow hole in the side of the container above the false bottom to prevent overwatering.
    • Insert a garbage bag into the planter and poke some holes in it for drainage.
    • Fill the bag with potting soil and plant your seeds or seedlings.
    • Fill the water reservoir through the watering pipe and check the water level regularly.
