To repair a self-closing door hinge, you can:
    • Bend the hinge pin slightly to provide enough friction to stop the door from closing or opening by itself.
    • Loosen the screws and push the hinge plate toward the back of the cabinet as far as possible. If this does not sufficiently close the gap, pull the screws out completely, push the plate into the appropriate position, drill new pilot holes and re-attach the screws.
    • Adjust the spring hinge tension with a hex wrench and pliers.
    • Replace a rusty hinge or disassemble it and clean with solvent and a toothbrush. Allow to dry, then polish with very fine sandpaper. Apply lubricant and reassemble.
    • Tighten the screws to ensure the hinge remains in place.
