Cleveland Cavaliers guard Ricky Rubio has been diagnosed with a torn ACL in his left knee and will miss the remainder of the 2021-22 season, the team announced on Wednesday.

Further medical tests revealed that Ricky Rubio had torn his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee, which would require him to miss the remainder of the 2021–2022 NBA season.

Rubio suffered a season-ending ACL injury to his left knee in the 2021-22 season. He was traded from the Cavaliers to the Indiana Pacers in February 2022 following his injury, but did not appear in a game for the team.

The next February, as the Spanish b-baller recovered from his injury, the Cavs traded him to the Indiana Pacers, but he never appeared in a game for that team. And in July 2022, Ricky signed a three-year, $18 million deal to come back to the Cavs, per ESPN.

Ricky Rubio has taken a break from his basketball career to focus on his mental health. He was set to enter his 19th season of professional basketball and has played longer than most players his age. He's one of the few athletes who are open about the importance of mental health, breaking the stigma around it.
