Playmaker In association football, a playmaker is someone who controls the flow of the team's play, and is often involved in offensively and defensively playing passing moves which lead to goals, through their vision, technique, ball control, creativity and passing ability.

The term playmaker has been used loosely in recent years to describe any midfielder who can connect the play between midfield and attack. Nonetheless, a playmaker and a midfielder are two, totally separate definitions.
