Other’s and others’ are the possessive forms of “other.” We use other’s for singular possessive form (singular meaning one). For example: We couldn’t stop staring into each other’s eyes. We borrowed each other’s outfits. The students corrected each other’s homework. We use others’ for plural possessive form (multiple; more than one).

Other’s is the singular possessive form of other. E.g., “We must consider each other’s feelings.” Furthermore, the term others’ is the plural possessive. For example, “I passed, but the others’ results were terrible.” Finally, others is the standard plural form. The following chart shows the different forms of the word other.

The plural form just shows that there are multiple instances of “other.” We don’t talk about any possessions or objects; we just list the “others” that we know and are talking about. The others will be arriving shortly if you’d like to wait by the door. How many others are there, Jonny? Where are all the others? I was told there would be more.

We use ‘ others ‘ as a pronoun to replace other ones or a plural noun when the noun is known or obvious. We cannot use ‘ other ‘ as a pronoun. All of these glasses are dirty. Do you have others? (‘ others’ refers to ‘ glasses’) Some people agree while others are neutral. (‘ others’ refers to ‘ other people’) The others
