Bird was a 12-time NBA All-Star, won two NBA Finals MVP awards and received the NBA Most Valuable Player Award three consecutive times (1984 – 1986), making him the only forward in league history to do so.

Bird’s 19 points in the 1982 NBA All-Star Game, including 12 of the East’s last 15, earned him the game’s MVP trophy.

Larry is the only modern-era (the post-1980s) basketball player who won three league MVPs in a row. [1984,1985, and 1986] He led his team to championship series in these three years. Only Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain won MVPs three in a row. As a 6-foot-9 forward, he’s the only non-center to achieve that string.
