Temperature ratings for electrical equipment indicate the maximum surface temperature that a piece of equipment can reach under normal or fault conditions without causing an ignition in the surrounding atmosphere. The acceptable operating temperature for most electrical devices is 40 °C (104 °F) or greater. Different temperature grades include:
    1. Commercial: 0 °C to 70 °C (32 to 158 °F)
    2. Industrial: −40 °C to 85 °C (−40 to 185 °F)
    3. Military: −55 °C to 125 °C (−67 to 257 °F).
