Went to Campo Zepplin near Zepplinfeld not to glorify in any way what went on there but to see the place for historical reasons. While the main part of the stadium was destroyed after the war, the stands and some background is still there but getting quite dilapidated now as no money is spent on it. The fields are now used for sport and there is a racetrack on the roads.

The Germanisches Nationalmuseum is housed in a ultra-modern structure hooked onto a Medieval cloister. Due to its size, we devoted about five hours over two days to it. The 16th Century galleries included some of Albrecht Dürer’s most famous paintings, with the portraits especially striking. Much of the rest of the museum veered toward the “region’s attic” approach, assemblages of artifacts of more historic than aesthetic interest. The two temporary exhibits were well arranged and explicated, with texts in both German and English. One featured highlights from the museum’s Middle Ages collection, which was being relocated. The other focused on the art of Hans Hoffmann, a contemporary of Dürer’s. In addition to paintings of religious subjects, Hoffmann did some fine depictions of animals.

Newly modernised hotel immediately opposite the station. Very comfortable but the website upsold me a higher category room at a good price without making clear that I was losing the breakfast so unfortunately I didn't try the catering (standalone breakfast was outside my price range!) The restaurant seemed to be just steak, so not that attractive to me so I went out. Desk staff quite helpful. Room was very clean.

I am slightly worried about sharing this review in case I can’t get a room here next time because it will be booked out. But credit due where credit is earned. This Novotel (not to be confused with Novotel Messe) is within 3 minutes walk to the old town and is next to the Hauptbahnhof. The rooms are sparkling clean and well laid out, and the breakfast offers a very good variety of continental, local and healthy options. The service of all the staff is friendly, helpful and warm.... all of them from front desk to the ladies in the kitchen. I’ve stayed at many hotels in Nuremberg and this has been the best experience for me....
