The Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund is a government grant which helps social housing residents to install energy efficiency measures such as solar panels, insulation, new doors and windows, upgraded heating systems and heat pumps to raise the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of their home.

The Government has proposed a £3.8bn Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund over a 10-year period, to improve the energy performance of social rented homes. A £62m fund was announced in 2020 followed by £160m for the first wave of the SHDF in financial year 2021/22 delivering to January 2023.

Wave 2.2 of the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund will allocate up to £80 million of additional funds to eligible Social Housing Landlords, including local authorities and housing associations, so that they can install energy efficiency measures, such as insulation and heat pumps, in socially rented homes.
