The two split due to differences. Gerard Piqué reportedly cheated on Shakira with Clara Chía Martí but nothing has ever been confirmed. According to Page Six, a source said that the “She Wolf” artist was “devastated to learn that this woman clearly felt at home in the house they shared with their children.”

The couple's breakup also comes as Shakira faces a trial over alleged tax fraud after a Spanish court dismissed her appeal on May 26. Prosecutors claim she failed to pay up to $15.54 million in taxes on income she earned between 2012 and 2014. Shakira's legal team said in a statement that it would continue to defend her case.

In another interview with the Spanish media channel EsDiario, Roberto Garcia, who’s an ex-boyfriend of one of Shakira's sisters, revealed that while Shakira and Gerard’s relationship appeared perfect to the fans, they had problems from months before their separation. He also went ahead and revealed, the real reason was money.
