Immediate symptoms of arsenic poisoning may include: Abdominal pain. Nausea and vomiting. Diarrhea. Cough. Chest pain. Shortness of breath (dyspnea). Sore throat (pharyngitis).

Symptoms of arsenic poisoning may include: red or swollen skin skin changes, such as new warts or lesions abdominal pain nausea and vomiting diarrhea abnormal heart rhythm muscle cramps

If arsenic poisoning occurs over a brief period of time, symptoms may include vomiting, abdominal pain, encephalopathy, and watery diarrhea that contains blood. Long-term exposure can result in thickening of the skin, darker skin, abdominal pain, diarrhea, heart disease, numbness, and cancer.

Symptoms of acute poisoning from swallowing arsenic include nausea, vomiting, burning of the mouth and throat, and severe abdominal pains. Circulatory collapse may occur and be followed by death within a few hours. In persons exposed to arsine, the outstanding effects are destruction of red blood cells and damage to the kidneys.

A person who has swallowed arsenic may show signs and symptoms within 30 minutes. These may include: drowsiness headaches confusion severe diarrhea If arsenic has been inhaled, or a less concentrated amount has been ingested, symptoms may take longer to develop.
