Barcelona striker Sergio “Kun” Aguero announced on Wednesday that he would be retiring from football at the age of 33, after being recently diagnosed with a cardiac arrhythmia.

Aguero, 33, was recently diagnosed with a cardiac arrhythmia — an irregular heartbeat. The former Manchester City striker was taken to hospital after he suffered chest pain in Barcelona's 1-1 draw with Alaves in October. He was then ruled unavailable for selection.

He was diagnosed with cardiac arrhythmia and, subsequently, has now opted to end his time on the pitch, having been advised of medical risks if he continued.

Having experienced discomfort in his chest during Barcelona’s 1-1 draw against Alaves in October, Aguero was diagnosed with a cardiac arrhythmia – or irregular heartbeat – and forced to announce his early retirement in December.
