An above ground pool is a freestanding swimming pool that sits on top of the ground, or is positioned inches below the surface of the ground. An above ground pool is a permanent structure that is designed to be left up year-round. An above ground swimming pool has a thin corrugated wall system that is usually made of steel.

An above-ground pool differs from the in-ground and on-ground styles because it remains entirely on top of the ground. Typically, these pools are left free-standing or surrounded by a wooden deck. Sizes usually range from as small as 12’ round and can be as large as 19’ x 33’ oval.
