  1. Volleyball officials use the following hand signals123:
    1. Direction of service: Extend the arm to the side of the team that will serve.
    2. Server delay: Raise both arms above your head.
    3. Ball out of bounds or touching antennae: Raise the forearms vertically, hands open, palms towards the body.
    4. Ball caught or thrown: Slowly lift the forearm, palm of the hand facing upwards.
