Lamont Marcell Jacobs of Italy won the men’s 100 metres gold at the Tokyo Olympics, breaking retired Jamaican star Usain Bolt’s 13-year hold on the event.

Lamont Marcell Jacobs has won the men's 100m Olympic final in Tokyo, succeeding Usain Bolt as champion. Marcell Jacobs won the race with a time of 9.80 seconds, with U.S.'s Fred Kerley and Canada's Andre De Grasse in second and third with times of, 9.84 and 9.89, respectively.

Italy's Lamont Marcell Jacobs claimed a shock gold in the Olympic 100m final, after Great Britain's Zharnel Hughes was disqualified for a false start. Jacobs, who only switched away from long jump in 2018, streaked clear to win in 9.80 seconds, 0.04 clear of American Fred Kerley.
