Flights at Luton Airport have resumed after a huge fire ripped through a terminal car park on Tuesday evening. The blaze caused the building to suffer a "significant structural collapse". Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service believed the cause was accidental. The fire started at about 20:45 BST and no serious injuries were reported.

All flights have been suspended at Luton airport after a fire caused one of its multi-storey car parks to partially collapse. At least 140 flights due to take off or land have been cancelled since the blaze started shortly before 9pm on Tuesday. Firefighters worked through the night and into the early hours of Wednesday to extinguish the blaze.

The blaze broke out in Terminal Car Park 2 at about 20:45 BST on 10 October and "rapidly escalated". In a joint report, Bedfordshire's fire and police services said the most probable cause was an electrical fault or a component failure in a moving diesel vehicle. It became "overrun with flames" which spread to other vehicles, it said.
