It is strongly implied Mob is unable to take in all of Toichiro's energy to prevent the explosion, which would indicate that he cannot store as much. Buuut Toichiro had 20 years to store that energy, while Mob tried to absorb it in a matter of seconds.

So I think he is strong because he is born with op power but in the same time,the power have certain conditions that he need to control. It just so happen to be Mob to have the power,the man that can control his emotion really well.

Most of the time your power manifests in a semi-unique way but powerful espers are able to use their powers in multiple ways. Telekinesis and barriers being very common. You don't really need to worry about the power system because Mob is OP and the author uses fights for character development, not actual shows of combat abilities.

Aug 13, 2021 · Mob really limits his power to avoid others from getting hurt while he's fighting (especially since he takes a while to explode) so I think he didn't necessarily unleash his full potential. After reading the manga (actually finished it yesterday!), I feel as though the final arc in the manga offers a much more definite answer!
