Following his playing career, Suárez managed a number of clubs including Inter Milan and Deportivo. He also managed the Spanish national team, leading it to the last 16 of the 1990 World Cup. Luis Suárez, considered one of the greatest Spanish football players in history, died at the age of 88.

The former Barcelona and Inter Milan midfielder was the first Spanish-born player to win the Ballon d’Or – the award given to the world’s best soccer player of the year – in 1960.

With him at the helm, Suarez and teammates won two Spanish Cups, two Spanish League titles and two Fairs Cups. In 1960 Suarez was awarded the prestigious Ballon D’Or, the only Spanish-born male player ever to win it (he also finished second twice and third once).
