Arthur, the longest-running children’s animated series in the history of American television, has ended with its 25th season.

Arthur, the beloved PBS Kids series that is the longest-running animated children’s show ever, will come to an end next month after 25 years with a four-part finale showing “what’s in store for the future” of the characters as adults, the public broadcaster announced Tuesday.

"Arthur is the longest-running kids animated series in history and is known for teaching kindness, empathy and inclusion through many groundbreaking moments to generations of viewers," said the show's executive producer, Carol Greenwald, in a statement.

The message resonated, as Arthur holds the title of longest-running kid’s animated show in history. On February 21, the show came to an end with four special episodes to wrap up its 25-year run.
