Enrique Tirabocchi, from Argentina, completed the swim on 13 August, finishing in a record time of 16 hours and 33 minutes and the first person to swim the route starting from France. American Charles Toth of Boston completed the swim on 9 September 1923, in 16 hours and 40 minutes.6 August 1926Gertrude Ederle's successful cross-channel swim began at Gris Nez in France at 07:05 am on 6 August 1926.
