To insert symbols or kaomoji on Windows 10, use these steps: Open a text file, document, or email. Use the Windows key + (period) or Windows key + (semicolon) keyboard shortcut to open the emoji panel. Click the Omega button to access the symbols. (Or the character face button to access the available kaomoji.)

Beginning with Windows 10 version 1709 (the so-called Fall Creators Update), the capability to enter emojis is built-in. Just press Windows key + ; (semicolon). For earlier versions, or to enter symbols and special characters, use the touch keyboard. Don't be fooled by that name. The touch keyboard responds just fine to mouse clicks.

The most straightforward way to type a special character in Windows is the built-in Emoji Keyboard, also known as Character Picker. It contains a massive selection of emojis, foreign alphabets, symbols, and kaomojis (emojis made with Japanese characters), and is much faster than googling a symbol to copy and paste. Press Win +. or Win + ;.

To find the keyboard in Windows 10, roll your cursor over to the lower-right side of the screen and right-click on the taskbar. Then, click on Show Touch Keyboard button. You can then long-tap or long-hold your mouse down on any given letter to find symbols and other alternate characters.
