Johnston’s sentencing is set for October 7 before US District Judge Carl Nichols. He is facing a maximum of five years in prison. Jay Johnston, the actor known for his roles on “Arrested Development,” “Bob’s Burgers” and other TV shows, pleaded guilty Monday over his involvement in the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol.

Jay Johnston played Jimmy Pesto on the long-running show until his Jan. 6, 2021, participation became public. He also played Officer Taylor on “Arrested Development.”

After his arrest, Johnston was indicted by a federal grand jury alongside four other Jan. 6 defendants; the government alleged that all five men took part in the battle at the lower west tunnel leading into the Capitol, where some of the worst rioter-on-law-enforcement violence took place on Jan. 6.

He portrayed a police officer in 10 episodes of “Arrested Development.” Johnston has also appeared in movies and TV shows such as “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy,” “Mr. Show with Bob and David,” “The Sarah Silverman Program, “Rick and Morty,” “Modern Family,” “Better Call Saul,” “Community,” and “Parks and Recreation.”
