On a two wheeled motorcycle you induce lean by counter steering, thus making the bike turn in the direction of the lean due to the trail that's built into the steering. On a sidecar equipped motorcycle the slight lean out produces a pull away from the sidecar, thus negating part of the pull the sidecar makes on the motorcycle.

Modern Leaner Sidecar: A modern leaner sidecar attaches to the motorcycle’s frame and is connected to the motorcycle’s suspension, allowing the sidecar to lean in turns. This design offers a more natural and intuitive riding experience and improved handling but is typically more expensive and complicated to install.

The first was a flexible connection between the sidecar and the motorcycle that was paired with a redesigned tilting sidecar wheel. The combination allowed the sidecar to lean with the motorcycle, something that no other sidecar could do. The tilting wheel could also move up or down in relation to the motorcycle's wheels.

A sidecar with a drive wheel may tend to go in a straight line; one without the drive wheel may be unaffected. If the sidecar is properly set up, the bike will track straight down the road. Lean against the turns. On right turns, the sidecar will want to rise off the ground, and the rider will want to lean as if there was no sidecar attached.
