Box set is a little pricey, running about $120 now, and I already have a nice 4LP AAA Otis set that covers most of those bases. (Although it's all stereo mixes after the first 2 albums.)

Mar 22, 2024 · The Dock of the Bay, Otis Redding - Qobuz I'd argue there's absolutely nothing wrong with the stereo mix of the title track. Ideally any reissue would use mono instead of fake stereo, but I'm guessing the new LP just uses the stereo masters as-is, since it wouldn't be possible to cut from multiple tapes in real-time.

Apr 5, 2018 · Used to have the '87 "Otis Redding Story" set, but happily gave it up when the '93 box came out. Have felt little need to upgrade since. I think there's a point where the phrase "it is what it is" applies to the sonics of the Big O's recordings. (YMMV, of course.)

May 5, 2011 · Ok. I have checked out every thread involving the Big O and most of them TOUCH on the proper albums of Otis but mainly focus on the comps. I have the 2 disc version of Otis Blue:Otis Redding Sings Soul and I think it sounds OK. I would love to hear the opinions of everyone who owns any of the albums on disc and how you rate the sound.

Jul 16, 2023 · On CD, I picked up Otis Redding - Original Album Series and Otis Redding - Original Album Series Vol. 2 from Half Priced Books for under $15 bucks each the last few months or so. Haven't listened to all of 'em yet, but the ones I have listened to sound very good to me.

Nov 22, 2023 · This week, I got a shipment containing 5 SACDs. Three APs, this one, the Dr. John, the Genesis, Joni's Blue (MFSL) and VH S/T (MFSL.) The Otis Redding is the best of the bunch! Otis is no longer sitting on the dock of the bay, he's sitting between my two speakers. Bernie Grundman did a superb job with this one.
