While the most common lightsaber colors in Star Wars are blue, red, and green, the franchise has a variety of hues for these weapons across film, TV, video games, comics, and novels. When George Lucas first created Star Wars, he was determined to ensure this was treated like science-fantasy rather than science-fiction.

However, even some of the most hardcore Star Wars fans aren’t aware that lightsaber blade colors as very specifically tied to their wielder as within Star Wars canon “pure kyber (The crystal at the heart of every lightsaber) has no color until it’s bonded to the Force user.” So, what qualities do the numerous lightsaber blade colors represent?

In Star Wars Legends, this color is designated to a Jedi Guardian, once again mirroring the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Green lightsabers are the second most common color used by the Jedi, closely associated with the attributes of harmony, helpfulness, cooperation, spirituality, and demonstrable goodwill.

His friend Alan Dean Foster came up with the word "lightsaber" as a substitute. A lightsaber's color generally comes from the kyber crystal at its heart, a living gem resonating in the Force. Pure kyber crystals are white, but they adopt a color when they bond with a Force-sensitive.
