Many may wonder, lightning can indeed turn sand into glass under the right conditions. This fascinating process occurs when lightning strikes sandy areas rich in silica or quartz, generating heat that fuses the sand into a glass-like substance known as fulgurite.

When lightning strikes sand, it can turn into fulgurite (also known as fossilized lightning). Lightning creates a tube of glass below the ground. Eventually, the sand above it moves around and the glass tubes are revealed.
