The former Pakistan and China hockey coach is a member of the IOC Olympic Solidarity Commission, and has been an Executive Board member of the FIH since 2016. On 5 November 2022, he was elected as the 13th President of FIH.

The application follows the transfer of membership between the Indonesian Hockey Association “PHSI” (former national hockey governing body) and the Indonesian Hockey Federation (now FIH member) that was approved by the FIH Executive Board on 4 October 2022. The Indonesian Hockey Federation has met all FIH membership requirements.

The FIH Executive Board consists of a president; eight ordinary members - four female and four male - one half being renewed every two years; an athletes’ representative; Presidents of the Continental Federations; CEO; any (non-voting) member co-opted onto the Executive Board pursuant to Article 7.1 (c) of the FIH Statutes.
