Hill Dwarves have increased hit points, keen senses, innate wisdom, and proficiency with artisan’s tools, making them well-suited for cleric or druid roles. Mountain Dwarves have increased Constitution and Strength scores, proficiency with light and medium armor, and the Stonecunning ability, making them formidable fighters in melee combat.

Hill Dwarf is excellent for any build that needs a few extra hit points, and Mountain Dwarf offers two +2 increases (unmatched by any other published race) and medium armor proficiency, which largely solves the issue of AC for poorly-armored classes like the Wizard.

Hill Dwarf – Hill Dwarfs have keen senses, remarkable resilience, and deep intuition. Mountain Dwarf – Mountain Dwarfs are hardy and strong, familiar with a difficult life in rough terrain. They are also taller than most dwarfs, tending to have a lighter appearance as well.

Mountain dwarves give the bonus of additional strength and some armor proficiencies right off the bat while hill dwarves get a lot of extra hit points as they continue to level up.
