  1. To do pull ups on chairs, you can follow these steps123:
    1. Stand on a chair or a box, or have a spotter stand next to you.
    2. Grip the pullup bar with your palms facing your preferred direction.
    3. Pull yourself up with the assistance of the chair or your spotter.
    4. Slowly lower yourself back to starting position.
    5. Repeat.
    Alternatively, you can lay on your back underneath the chair so that the underside of the seat is about parallel with your chest, extend your legs and “screw” your heels into the ground, and reach up and grab either side of the chair seat with a hook grip style (thumbs hooked under the seat, fingers hooked over the top)3.
