It seemed like he was proactive doing damage control towards his own fanbase, maybe for political views or just being a part of such a terrible episode - but ended up contradicting himself a few times and it came across as disingenuous.

I went to a catholic based college and they taught us that it was written several decades if not several hundred years after Jesus even died.
