Qurʾān, or Koran, Sacred scripture of Islam, regarded by Muslims as the infallible word of God, revealed to the Prophet Muhammad. The book, first compiled in its authoritative form in the 7th century, consists of 114 chapters (sūrahs) of varying length, written in Arabic.

The Quran is the holy book of Islam. It was written in the 7th century C.E. Its content is the wisdom of Allah as received and preached by Muhammad. The Quran is divided into chapters (called surah) and verses (ayat) of differing length and topics. It is also divided into sections (juz) as a 30-day reading schedule for Ramadan.

The Quran explains the concept of God, it explains in detail what is permissible and what is forbidden, it explains the basics of good manners and morals, and gives rulings about worship. It tells stories about the Prophets and our righteous predecessors, and describes Paradise and Hell. The Quran was revealed for all of humankind.
