Jan 23, 2025 · @Turbowatch2 calls it the “British sound”, I call it the “French sound.” I bought a pair of Focal 5N402-DB woofers. They're from the mid 1980s. Though not Bextrene, the cones are soft black pliable plastic. They look almost exactly like the KEF B110s and they have fewer resonances. Very accurate, well engineered woofers.

The more bits your DAC has, the higher the precision needed for the resistors AND the switching element, in order to maintain monotonicity and linearity. So, really good R2R DAC's are going to be expensive. That said, simpler design solutions are often the best!

The first has not been available for a couple decades, the latter is not cheap. If i need a horn or TL i tap Scottmoose’s design expertise and his collection of software tools. dave

May 19, 2021 · I read in an old 'Meyer Sound Design Reference' that the 650-p was not designed to be a replacement to the 650-R2 used by live sound. Said the 650-P was designed more for cinema etc. @ cobrettie, I have a 650-p, a pair of upa-1p's, and a pair of mts4a's.
