O'Neal played under Jackson on the Los Angeles Lakers from 1999 to 2004. They won three championships together, but also had some disagreements and conflicts. O'Neal called Jackson a "second father", but also a "Benedict Arnold".
O'Neal played under Van Gundy on the Miami Heat from 2004 to 2005. They reached the Eastern Conference finals, but O'Neal blamed Van Gundy for not calling enough plays for him. O'Neal also called Van Gundy a "master of panic" and a "flop".
O'Neal played under Riley on the Miami Heat from 2005 to 2008. They won a championship together in 2006, but O'Neal felt that Riley did not trust him or treat him well. O'Neal said Riley was "trying to be a coach and a president and a dictator".
O'Neal played under Harris on the Los Angeles Lakers from 1996 to 1999. They had a power struggle and a lack of chemistry, and O'Neal wanted Harris to be fired. O'Neal said Harris "just didn't respect me".
O'Neal played under Rivers on the Boston Celtics in the 2010–11 season. Rivers agreed to sign O'Neal on the condition that he would not cause any trouble or demand any special treatment. O'Neal said Rivers was "a great coach" and "a great motivator".
