May 31, 2019 · I was getting 10Mbps download speeds plugged into my router (and wireless) on an Inspiron 15-7586 2-in-1. When I plugged directly into the cable modem I got 100Mbps. Spent an hour troubleshooting the router, then started looking at the software installed on the Dell. The culprit was the pre-installed SmartByte software (by Rivet).

May 9, 2021 · Express connect is the Rivet networks Killer networking smartbyte optimizer Junk. HOWEVER don't remove it from there. Uninstall Dell optimizer. During that uninstall it will remove the Rivet Networks express connect.

Aug 6, 2018 · Bought a new Dell desktop 3 days ago. After seeing my download speed at 5Mbps I was able to debug and also find SmartByte as the culprit. I disabled it and the Rivet Dynamic Bandwidth Management in Services and my speed went to 175Mbps! Spent a lot of time on this. I wish I had seen this thread first (I found it by Googling SmartByte).

May 20, 2023 · @BillySea86 - The company was named Rivet before Intel bought it, which was a while back. Rivet made Ethernet and WiFi hardware under their "Killer" brand name. Click Start>Run>type in: services.msc and click OK. When services.msc opens, locate the "Killer" services on the list. Double-click each one and set its Startup Type to Disabled.
