Right-side heart failure, where the right side of the heart cannot pump blood efficiently, is often caused by a condition that affects the left side of the heart or the lungs. Heart valve disorders, pulmonary hypertension, chronic lung conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and left-sided heart failure are common causes. The right ventricle finds it more challenging to pump blood to the lungs due to these disorders, which raise pressure in the pulmonary arteries. In order to treat the condition, the underlying cause must be managed. Diuretics are used to reduce fluid overload, and beta-blockers, ACE inhibitors, and angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) are used to improve cardiac function. It is also critical to make lifestyle adjustments, including eating a low-sodium diet, exercising frequently, and controlling fluid intake. In advanced cases, specialized treatments or surgeries may be required. See more
